Bus murder suspect says 'kill me'

A man accused of beheading a fellow bus passenger in Canada has pleaded "please kill me", as he was asked by a judge if he wanted a lawyer.
Vince Weiguang Li has been ordered by the court to undergo psychiatric tests.
Mr Li, 40, is accused of second-degree murder after he allegedly stabbed and decapitated 22-year-old Tim McLean on a Greyhound bus on 31 July.
A prosecutor told the court that Mr Li was seen eating pieces of his victim and had body parts found in his pocket.
Tuesday's court hearing in Manitoba had earlier been adjourned to give Mr Li time to consult a lawyer.
Asked by the judge after the recess whether he wanted a lawyer, Mr Li was overheard by reporters and court officials saying "please kill me".
Police have suggested no motive for the attack last Wednesday, which happened in front of terrified passengers as the bus travelled through a desolate stretch of Canada's vast prairies.
They reported seeing Mr Li, a former church custodian, stab Mr McLean, who was sitting next to him, 50 or 60 times before cutting off his head.

Ms Dalmyn said Mr Li had refused to leave the bus, shouting at police officers: "I have to stay on the bus forever."
Witnesses have reported that Mr Li did not appear to know the sleeping victim and that the attack began without warning.
'No anger issues'
Mr Li, who emigrated to Canada from China four years ago, is being kept in custody in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba.
Church pastor Tom Castor, who helped hire Mr Li after he immigrated, told the AP news agency that the suspect never showed any sign of anger or emotional problems.
"He seemed like a person who was happy to have a job, was committed to doing it well and didn't stand out in any way (in terms of) having anger issues or having any other issues," Castor was quoted as saying.
Mr Li was also vetted by church officials and his references were checked. He did not have a criminal record and there did not appear to be any other signs of problematic or troubled past.
If evidence shows the attacker was mentally ill and did not understand what he was doing, criminal charges may not stand up, Fred Shane, a Manitoba forensic psychiatrist, told the Reuters news agency.
The judge ordered that Mr Li be sent for psychiatric evaluation before his next scheduled court appearance on 8 September.
Meanwhile, Reuters reports, the Greyhound bus company has been scrambling to remove all traces of an advertising campaign which used the slogan: "There's a reason you've never heard of bus rage."
The campaign was supposed to have ended but a spokeswoman said some billboards had been found still in place.

Why and How I Got involved in Fetish

So many People often wonder why I got myself interested and educated in fetish. What exactly sparked my interest? I didn’t grow wanting to be a dominatrix; although I was authoritative and assertive. In an exclusive television interview with The Associated Press, a woman who identified herself as Josef Fritzl's sister-in-law provided intimate details of the oppression inside the Fritzl home.

The woman, who has pictures of herself with the family, asked only to be identified as Christine R. to avoid public attention and throngs of journalists seeking interviews.

She said Fritzl's daughter Elisabeth ran away from home as a 17-year-old, about six months before police say she was locked into the soundproofed, windowless cellar beneath their apartment.

Christine R. also painted the most complete picture to date of her sister Rosemarie: a woman who against all odds fought to hold together a troubled family, yet never suspected that the cause of so much pain was in her own home.

"She never believed him capable of it," the woman said of her 68-year-old sister. "We spoke about it often when we met. And I would say, 'Rosemarie, where can Elisabeth be?' I even told her myself, she is definitely in a cult where you can only have a certain amount of children, or they don't want sick children."

But why was the cult story so easily accepted? And did Rosemarie search for her missing daughter? Such questions have puzzled Austrians, who have grappled with whether Rosemarie might have had knowledge of the crime.

Police say they have no evidence that Rosemarie was complicit in her husband's alleged atrocities. They say the 73-year-old electrician confessed to the imprisonment and rape and to incinerating the body of one of the children who died in infancy.

Christine R. described Josef Fritzl as a "tyrant" who instilled a culture of fear at home, which helped him create an elaborate cover story that no one questioned of Elisabeth running away to join a cult and abandoning three children on their doorstep.

"When he said it was black, it was black, even when it was 10 times white," said the woman, who was interviewed Saturday evening at her home in Austria. "He tolerated no dissent.

"Listen, if I myself was scared of him at a family party, and I did not feel confident to say anything in any form that could possibly offend him, then you can imagine how it must have been for a woman that spent so many years with him," she said.

Josef Fritzl is accused of concocting the cult story and even impersonating Elisabeth in a phone call to convince his wife of its truth. He is also accused of forcing his daughter to write letters that were used to explain the three children apparently found at their doorstep.

"We were all taken in by him," Christine R. said of her brother-in-law. "Every person that looked in his eyes was fooled by him."

She said Rosemarie frantically looked for Elisabeth. The sister, 12 years Rosemarie's junior, recalled searching for Elisabeth in train stations and where homeless people hang out.

"But where can you find out where these cults are?" the woman said. "We really did detective work all around as to where the cult could be."

Christine R. said her sister devoted her life to her children - a task that she focused on with even greater effort after her husband was jailed. "I believe he spent a year and half in prison," she said.

The Oberoesterreichische Nachrichten daily on Saturday printed an excerpt of what it said was a 1967 court record found in the state archives in Linz, in which a Josef F. was accused of breaking into the apartment of a 24-year-old nurse and raping her.

Police have declined to comment, saying records that old would have been erased under Austria's statutes of limitation. But authorities are awaiting old court records that the media say document the case. Christine R. said she did not have more information.

She said her sister reacted with "shock" but believed that "everyone makes a mistake" and focused on keeping her family healthy.

"I think this changed their relationship a little," Christine R. said. "You can surely imagine that a woman in such a situation would have been utterly broken and shocked over something like this."

As time went on, the relationship between Fritzl and his wife soured, the sister said.

"As far I know no sex took place in recent years," Christine R. said. "I believe it was because of his prior conviction, and because my sister had been getting bigger. And in any case he never liked fat women."

Still, Christine R. said there were no warning signs that something was disturbing about the relationship between the father and Elisabeth, whom police say may have been sexually abused when she was as young as 12.

"He was just as strict with her as he was to every other child," Christine R. said. "There was nothing in particular that could lead you to say he was more intimate with her. From the child as well it never came out. She never confided in anyone."

Authorities first began to unravel the complex story on April 19, when Elisabeth's eldest daughter was admitted to a hospital suffering from an unidentified infection.

Doctors, unable to find any medical records for the girl, appealed on TV for her mother to come forward. Fritzl then accompanied Elisabeth to the hospital April 26 and opened up to police.

Fritzl has not been formally charged. He faces up to 15 years in prison if he is ultimately convicted on rape charges, the most grave of his alleged offenses, unless prosecutors can charge him with "murder through failure to act" in connection with the death of the infant. That is punishable by up to 20 years in prison.

Christine R. said she last spoke to her sister "four or five days" after the daughter's admission to the hospital, which would mean about a day or two before Fritzl's arrest. She said she has received updates on the condition of her sister and Elisabeth from a "good source."

"My sister is apparently doing very badly and Elisabeth is not in the best shape either," she said. "I know my sister and when something is wrong with her children the world collapses.

CNN personality Richard Quest was busted in Central Park early yesterday with some drugs in his pocket, a rope around his neck that was tied to his genitals, and a sex toy in his boot, law-enforcement sources said.

Quest, 46, was arrested at around 3:40 a.m. after a cop spotted him and another man inside the park near 64th Street, a police source said.

The criminal complaint against Quest said the park was closed at the time - something Quest should have known because of all the signs saying "Park Closed 1 a.m. to 6 a.m."

Quest was initially busted for loitering, the source said. Aside from the oddly configured rope, the search also turned up a sex toy inside of his boot, and a small bag of methamphetamine in his left jacket pocket.

It wasn't immediately clear what the rope was for.

The criminal complaint says the officer at the scene was able to ID the drug because of "his prior experience as a police officer in drug arrests, observation of packaging which is characteristic of this type of drug, and defendant's statements that . . . 'I've got some meth in my pocket.' "

He was charged with loitering and criminal possession of a controlled substance. His unusual get-up didn't lead to a lewdness charge because he wasn't exposing himself, the police source said.

Quest's unidentified companion was given a summons for not carrying any identification, the source said.

Quest's lawyer, Alan Abramson, had a much more innocuous version of events.

"Mr. Quest didn't realize that the park had a curfew," Abramson said. He was simply "returning to his hotel with friends."

At a hearing in Manhattan Criminal Court, Quest agreed to undergo six months of drug counseling in return for an "adjournment in contemplation of dismissal," which means the misdemeanor charges against him will be dropped and the case sealed if he stays out of trouble and completes his drug program.

He was released with no bail after spending most of the day behind bars.

Abramson predicted after the hearing that "the case will be dismissed." He declined to answer questions.

Quest, known for his hollering antics and stunts on the cable news network and its international counterpart, declined comment, as did a CNN spokeswoman.

On his official CNN bio, the network calls him "one of the most instantly recognizable members of the CNN team."

"He has become one of the network's highest profile presenters," and his "dynamic and distinctive style has made him a unique figure in the field of business and news broadcasting," the network's Web site says.

He was reportedly once offered a position for the English-language version of the controversial Al Jazeera network, but said he turned it down because being gay and Jewish, he didn't think it would be a good fit.

A dominatrix at The Nutcracker Suite on East 33rd Street called 911 at about 1:30 a.m. after finding the hooded man turning blue in a dungeon room as he hung by his arms.

He was also wearing nipple clamps, a dog collar and women's high-heeled shoes, and his hands were cuffed behind his back, sources said.

The man was rushed to St. Vincent's Hospital, where he was put on a respirator, sources said. It was believed he had suffered brain damage due to lack of oxygen.

In keeping with the secretive nature of the S&M scene, the man was carrying no identification and only signed the name "Roger" in the pain palace's guest registry. But sources said he was a regular at the club.

Cops were using his MetroCard to try to track his movements and identify him.

His particular fetish was to have himself trussed up and left alone. The mistress he was working with, Taki Noriko, 30, of Williamsburg, told police that she elevated him just enough to cause discomfort but that his feet were still on the floor.

"It was an accident," Noriko told The Post.

She said that she checked on him every 20 minutes. At first, he was fine, but when she went in a second time, she found that his foot had slipped out of the shoe and was turning blue.

Police took Noriko, several other whip-toting mistresses and the club's manager in for questioning, but no charges were filed. One woman was arrested on an outstanding and unrelated warrant.

Cops removed several bags of evidence from the club, including one labeled "1 [one] black leather restraint."

While S&M activities are not illegal, the state penal code seems to leave open the possibility that those involved could be charged with assault - or even manslaughter if the man were to die - if a grand jury were to rule they acted recklessly.

The club, which is tucked away in a suite in a nondescript Midtown office building near the Empire State Building, has operated for more than a decade and is a well-known masochist mecca among devotees of the bondage scene.

The erotic emporium was once featured in a 15-minute documentary called "Paradise Bound," which screened at the Sundance Festival in 1996.

"It's a lot more common than you think. It's lawyers, doctors, athletes, everybody," co-owner Robert Fluty said in the film.

Fluty could not be reached for comment, and messages left on the club's voice mail were not returned.

On its Web site, the club lists candle-wax dripping, electrostimulation, bondage, role play and flogging among its services. Sessions cost $185 dollars an hour and are by appointment only.

Rooms are thematic and feature floor-to-ceiling mirrors, bondage beds and trusses.

One room, called The Inquisition Lair, features a leather-strap cage and a St. Andrew's Cross.

Another called "The Clinic," is described as "the ultimate for medical role play."

Here is an example of S&M gone wrong.. Not knowing the full story, I can not pass judgment on this Dominatrices practice and procedures. However, liability is one of my greatest concerns. If someone had a heart attack in a pizza parlor, it's a lot more acceptable and explainable rather then in a dungeon.

But stories such as this one as seen on page five in the New York Post are what give good legitimate Dominas a bad reputation as well our a bad taste of our profession. It makes me ill to see them refer to the dungeon as a sex club. I know I'm not serving up sex to my clients. I'm not even sure that they were either. The press has a lovely way of twisting facts to make a headline.
